Let's talk about one global project of 2018.

Apple Park is Apple's headquarters in California, which includes a recreational park area, the Ring Building, the Steve Jobs Theater, a fitness and wellness center, a visitor center, parking, social, sports, and work spaces. All of this is a single architectural, natural, and functional whole.

At the epicenter of the concept is care for the environment, the company and its employees. The ideal workplace, according to the idea of the campus authors, is not limited to a local location at a computer and a desk. It should be good and comfortable around, everywhere where a person thinks, rests, and creates.

The campus building ring with panoramic glazing, arranged on a 71 hectare site, is surrounded by tall trees. The harmonious form of the circle corresponds to the idea of harmony around – inside and outside. The energy of the sun, fresh air…

The park has 9,000 trees of different species, blooming fruit gardens, a secluded pond, lawns. All of this is interwoven with 6 kilometers of walking and running paths, workouts.

The simple form of the Ring Building conceals open-plan, private offices that are surrounded by glass walkways that run the entire circumference of the building.

The 800 glazing panels are 14-metre long and 3.2-metre high slabs – they form the radial geometry of the building. Due to the enormous size of the panels, there is no frequent step of the supporting structures.

The floors in the outer ring are made of precast concrete using advanced "hollow slab" technology. They are assembled from 4,000 slabs 15 meters wide. Air circulates through the structure.

The building's ring has eight entrance groups with atriums. Through them, one can get from the park to the inner garden.

Unique layout space – a huge restaurant with a 4-story hall and terraces. One of the restaurant facades is sliding. Huge 15-meter high wall-doors are installed on rails hidden under the floor.

The campus is powered by renewable energy and is the largest LEED Platinum-certified office building in the United States.

In addition to the ring-shaped building, there are pavilions for fitness and a wellness center on the territory of Apple Park. These are single-story glazed lightweight buildings that support the overall lightweight concept.

The campus construction budget was approximately $5 billion.

The project was developed by the architectural bureau Foster + Partners.
